We started our Informational Writing Unit! We will continue this until February. We have been learning how to do Yoga, play the violin, and Sign Language.

Some ways you can help at home:

-look at and discuss non-fiction books versus fictional books (pretend story)
-teach your child something (how to cook macaroni and cheese, tie shoes, or make an item)

We learned about The Magic Tree in our Non-fiction lesson this week. Here is a link below about the real information and facts.

The darling First Graders in Room 105 with the Monster Masks created in Art.

Math:
I can count to 100 by fives and tens.
I can count items in the classroom.
I can make groups of ten and then count the loose ones.
For examples 45 pencils would be in 4 groups with 5 loose.

Ways you can help at home:
-Practice counting by ones, twos, fives, and ten to 100--even 130!
-Word problems. If I have three cupcakes and I have 10 more cupcakes how many cupcakes do I have?
-Listen to Math songs:

Count by 10's:
Count by 5's:

Big smiles are we practice writing our numbers on a 100's chart. We are learning to understand the patterns of numbers to help us with our mathematical thinking.
